Dangerous People
At the Al Asael kebab shop.
I was dining at the Al Asael kebab shop last night, a cabbie joint with excellent food at reasonable prices, located somewhere in the backroads of the Bausher neighborhood of Muscat, Oman. To be more specific, I was located at about Latitude 23.5774 and Longitude 58.4001.
A group of rough looking men with long beards walked in and sat at the table next to me. Their traditional tunics were stained, and a heavy weariness in their eyes suggested that they were truly hard men. Weary truckers perhaps, or the neighborhood enforcers. They sat close together, quietly, and ordered trotters in spicy curry, as the unbearably hot summer night was only broken by the shrill cry of an unattended child.
“I don’t have Indiana Jones for Playstation 2”, one of them finally spoke up in English. “But the PS3 is so cheap now.”
